Food-Energy-Water at Penn State
Penn State has world-class expertise in food, energy, and water (FEW) issues but not enough opportunities to make connections across disciplines. The intersection of the FEW sectors—water security, energy security, and food security—is called a nexus to emphasize that these sectors are inextricably linked, so that actions in one area more often than not have impacts in one or both of the others.
The Institutes of Energy and the Environment is hosting a Food-Energy-Water (FEW) Workshop to build a Penn State community of practice around FEW Nexus issues, approaches, and challenges.

Join Rob Crane, Rachel Brennan, Mike Jacobson, and Tom Richard as they discuss:
- What FEW is,
- The importance of FEW at Penn State, and
- The Africa nexus initiative
These FEW sectors provide the foundation for human society, here in the U.S. and around the globe. In the coming decades, this nexus will face many challenges that require research, education, and outreach. Meeting these challenges will call for effective interdisciplinary teams.
Please join us on August 27 as we build the Penn State community around FEW.
