Viruses surround us, replicate within us, and shape our microbiome. The 2016 Summer Symposium in Molecular Biology will focus on living with our virome, and how to improve our interactions with viruses. Topics will include the latest research on the breadth and diversity of viral microbes, new and re-emerging viruses that impact human health, antiviral and vaccine approaches to combat viral pathogens, and the beneficial impacts that viruses can have on our microbiome and the ecosystems around us. The symposium will gather the foremost scientists in this vibrant field to highlight recent progress in this diverse research area. The symposium is an annual, unique Penn State event hosted by The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The 2016 Symposium will bring together top names in the field, and will thereby provide access to some outstanding lectures. The Symposium is open to members of the academic, biomedical, and pharmaceutical communities.
