The innaugural Gender, Agriculture and Environment Initiative (GAEI) Inaugural Symposium will be held June 6 and 7, 2016. This symposium aims to enhance scholarship at the intersections of gender, agriculture and the environment. The GAEI will bring together a network of scholars at Penn State and collaborators from other institutions and agencies who conduct research and evidence-based outreach on sustainable agriculture, women farmers, gender and climate change, food, water, gender and value chains, feminist science studies, and gender-integrated research methods, with a focus that spans from the local to global.
The event will be a collaborative and interactive meeting with the purposes of defining the key US and international issues and research needs related to gender, agriculture and the environment, and identifying research priorities and partners for the development of an innovative and forward-thinking program. The symposium at Penn State will coincide with a three-week professional development activity on developing gender research expertise for researchers within the CGIAR Consortium.
