We are excited to announce details of the “Afternoon of Theoretical Ecology” on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, in MSC and LSB.
1:00pm: Dr. Réka Albert will speak about using network theory to describe the ecological dynamics of plant-pollinator communities (W203 MSC)
1:40pm: Dr. Karen Abbott will give a seminar entitled “Noise in nature: the role of stochasticity in ecological understanding” (W203 MSC)
2:20pm: Dr. David Kennedy will talk about the evolutionary ecology of disease (W203 MSC)
3:00pm: Join us for afternoon tea and to network with local and visiting theoretical ecologists (W202 MSC)
3:45pm: Move from MSC to Berg auditorium (100 LSB)
4:00pm: Dr. Simon Levin, Princeton University will give the Huck Distinguished Lecture seminar “Ecology and Evolution: Complexity” (100 LSB)
5:30pm: Reception for Dr. Simon Levin. Graduates, postdocs and faculty interested in ecology are welcome to join us for hors d’oeuvres. This event also serves as a Welcome Mixer for distinguished visiting participants in an NSF-funded workshop to Advance Theory in Ecology.
8:00pm: End of proceedings.
